MUMMY MOT

The MummyMOT® is a postnatal detailed physiotherapy assessment of the abdominal and pelvic area. It is a check of your posture, breathing, tummy gap and pelvic floor strength. You will receive a report of the findings on the day. Following the assessment, an appropriate safe exercise programme will be prescribed.

Who is a Mummy MOT for?

A Mummy MOT is essential for any new mum that is suffering with back pain, neck pain, any symptoms of eplvic floor weakness or pelvic pain.

Why do I need one?

You will leave your Mummy MOT with the reassurance that you’re doing the right exercises and that you’re doing them correctly.

It may lead into physiotherapy sessions, so if you have back or neck tightness you may need to come in for some hands-on treatment.

What does treatment consist of?

Firstly, we will identity what your problems are through discussing the issues you’ve been experiencing. I will spend the time to get to know you and know what your goals are.

Next, I will take you through a full assessment to see how you’re moving, what your strength is like and to check any other tests that we need to turn through, such as:

  • A check of posture and alignment
  • A diastasis check
  • Pelvic floor functionality
  • Any symptoms of pelvic floor weakness
  • Assessing other problem areas such as your back and neck

If there are any issues, I’ll make sure you understand what those problems are and why you’re experiencing them.

 What’s next?

If necessary, I will be bale to provide you with some rehab exercises to do at home. These exercises will help you to target the pain or pelvic floor symptoms that you’re suffering from.

You could also attend one of the post-natal Pilates classes that we run on a weekly-basis. These classes provide a great opportunity to meet new people whilst doing something positive for your body and mind!

It’s just about double checking everything when you’re post-natal, so that then you can be doing the right things to make sure you recover.

We will work together to reach your goals?

No matter what your goals are, we will work together to ensure you meet them. Whether you want to get back to running or you simply want to be pain-free when you’re picking up your baby, it’s important to me to ensure you’re feeling back to normal as quickly as possible.

I’m a very hands-on physiotherapist so every session that you have with me will involve some form of treatment that’s hands on. Whether that’s joint mobilisations or massage/exercise therapy. I also do a lot of Pilates rehab with my clients.

I teach my clients how they can best help themselves so that they can leave me with the knowledge they need to be able to maintain the improvements made with me.
